Maggie’s Wirral

Private visit and celebration at the Steve Morgan Foundation Building, Clatterbridge

We thought a small private event to celebrate the launching of Art Friends Merseyside and the opening of the new Maggies’s Wirral would be appropriate.  The link between the love of art and its role in helping to create a place of peace and tranquillity is obvious as soon as you walk into this inspirational building.

The new Maggie’s will have been open for just over a year and Art Friends Merseyside will have been going just a little bit longer.  The new centre was designed by Dennis Swain of HB Architects and built by the Steve Morgan Foundation.  The building and landscape invites people in, with the landscaping giving a breathing space between the two worlds of hospital and normal life.  The rooms inside look out across the countryside and the centre itself is full of light and warmth.  There is a beautiful garden and courtyard as well.

Come and join us for a glass of wine and some canapes and see for yourselves this incredible welcoming and reassuring building full of beautiful furniture and pictures.  It sets the tone for everything that happens at Maggie’s.  In the words of the founder Maggie Keswick Jencks “thoughtful lighting, a view out to trees, birds and sky” and the opportunity “to relax and talk away from home cares”.

At the Steve Morgan Foundation Building, Clatterbridge Hospital, Wirral, CH63 4JD. This is a private visit as Maggie’s is not open to patients at the weekend. The building has wheelchair access.
