Private visit to Gorstella Gallery

Private visit to Gorstella Gallery
Kinnerton Road, Doddleston, Chester CH4 9LP

The Gorstella Gallery, founded in 1990 by Peter and Klazien Bullivant, with the ongoing object of bringing high quality, original, affordable British art to the North West. Since 2004, the gallery has been run by their daughter Bridget and her husband Stephen.

The space was created from some converted cow shippons adjoining their home in Doddleston. The gallery holds two exhibitions a year and our private visit is during their first exhibition of 2023 and promises to be a fascinating one.

We were given a talk about the gallery and the exhibiting artists, including the Wirral based artist Mathew Snowden, one of the most original and sought-after landscape artists working today. An example of his work is above. Also exhibiting was Malcolm Taylor, current President of Manchester Academy of Fine Art (MAFA) and for the first time, work by figurative artist Lucy Almey Bird. The exhibition also featured work for resale by Sir Kyffin Williams RA, Donald MacIntyre and William Selwyn.
